Pastor Jonathan Steeper serves as the senior pastor of the Kalihi Union Church in Hawaii. He is a native of Hawaii but has lived and ministered in Canada, Albania, and Central America. In May alone, he distributed 8,797 food boxes to people living in the area. The food boxes could feed six people for a week. There were another 839 boxes of baby needs distributed to families. In addition to the food boxes, he also supplied more than 2,109 boxes of women’s hygiene products and 326 sacks of powdered milk to the community.
In addition to his work as an executive director at Kalihi Union Church, he serves as the radio minister. His church dates back to 1900, when the town was considered to be “outer limits.” In 1820, American missionaries established a number of Christian churches in the region. Among them was Horace Wright Chamberlain, who was a descendant of the Chamberlain family that migrated to Hawaii in the early 1700s.
