FAU Owls Freshman Caleb Pendleton Hits Two Grand Slams

Freshman right fielder Caleb Pendleton has become one of the hottest prospects in college baseball. He’s hit two grand slams in his first two collegiate at-bats. Not only that, but his batting average is.252, on-base percentage is.339, and slugging percentage is.867, making him one of the most exciting prospects in the country.

Pendleton Hits Two Grand Slams in his First Two Collegiate at-Bats

FAU Owls freshman Caleb Pendleton is the latest player to hit a grand slam in just his first two collegiate at-bats. His feats will go down in the history of baseball, as only Fernando Tatis Sr. has hit two grand slams in the same inning. Pendleton hit his first grand slam in his first at-bat against Central Florida, and followed that up with a second one in his second at-bat. The feat helped the Owls to a 12-6 victory and a 2-0 start to the season.

The sophomore was visibly nervous before his first at-bat, and teammates and coaches razzed him when he hit his first slam. The moment was so big that his teammates couldn’t help but give him a razzmatazz in the clubhouse. Interestingly, he didn’t even have time to check his cell phone before his press conference. As an aside, Pendleton is a highly ranked baseball player, ranking No. 3 among Florida catcher prospects. In fact, he was named a PG Preseason All-American twice.

The moment is even more exciting when one considers Pendleton’s history of hitting grand slams. Pendleton attended Jensen Beach High School, about 65 miles from FAU. His batting average was 158.3 on Perfect Game’s rankings. Pendleton’s first two collegiate at-bats were on a par with Tatis’s record-setting performance in the Major Leagues, as was Fernando Tatis Sr.

The freshman catcher made history on Saturday. Pendleton hit two grand slams in his first two plate appearances. He connected with the bases loaded twice in the second inning during FAU’s 20-15 win over Central Florida. He crushed his second grand slam to left-centre with the score tied at seven. Pendleton was visibly nervous before the game began, but was able to hit the first pitch over the left field wall.

Pendleton’s Batting Average is.252

At the age of 15, Caleb Pendleton was a big part of the Florida Atlantic University travel baseball program. He grew up playing with Mitchell Hartigan’s brother, Scott. The coach, Chris McCormack, instilled positive lessons in Pendleton and the team. The junior is hoping to improve his plate performance as well as his defensive skills, blocking, and receiving. He also emphasized the team mentality “Only the Family.”

While playing college baseball, Pendleton has been making headlines for his offensive contributions. In his debut against UCF, he hit two grand slams. The first came with the bases loaded and was a two-run shot in the second inning. The team went on to win the game 20-15. While his numbers aren’t particularly impressive, they still show he can be an effective hitter.

On-base Percentage is.339

The sophomore center fielder was a slugging machine last season for the Florida Atlantic Owls, batting a career-high.339 with an on-base percentage of.349. His teammates are excited for the young player’s continued development as a teammate and a baseball player. Pendleton has played travel baseball with fellow Owls player and team captain, Nicholas Toney. His batting average was.252 this year, with an on-base percentage of.339 and a slugging percentage of.554. His fielding percentage was a stellar.985.

While in high school, Pendleton was a star at catcher and continued to excel at the position as a college baseball player. He was a batboy for FAU pitcher John McCormack and a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. His father, James, also served as the team’s chaplain. During his college years, he played in the Florida Atlantic University baseball team, where he earned the highest grade of the class.

Slugging Percentage is.863

It’s difficult to imagine a pitcher with a higher slugging percentage than Pendleton. The FAU freshman has an incredible skill set. While he played catcher for his high school team, he switched to pitcher in college. He has the ability to make plays from both positions, and he’s earning the highest grade from Perfect Game. The former high school star’s dad is a FCA program coordinator at FAU, and he also served as the team chaplain.

Pendleton hit his second grand slam during the same game. In addition to hitting home runs, Pendleton also has a 1.000 batting average. He also has a 2.000 slugging percentage. Pendleton will be talked about in Florida for years to come. His first grand slam was a game-winning hit that helped his team win.

Fielding Percentage is.985
