How Many Shootings in Chicago last Weekend

In the past weekend, there were three shootings in the Chicago area. In the 9100 block of South Carpenter, a male offender approached a group of teenagers and opened fire. Two of the teens were shot in the legs, and one was fatal. The man shot in the back is in serious condition. A second shooting occurred in the 2100 block of South Canal. Two males were shot and taken to hospitals. One is in critical condition, the other is in stable condition.

Throughout Chicago, over 50 people were shot and almost 50 were injured. The shootings happened during different times of day, and the numbers vary by neighborhood. About half of the shootings occurred between late Friday and early Saturday. In total, there were 54 people shot in 45 separate incidents. The most deadly shooting happened early Saturday morning on the CTA Red Line. A man in a dark SUV opened fire on the men. They were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center.

Police are still investigating the shootings. The city has had a string of violent incidents in recent years. Last weekend, a 17-year-old teen was killed in Millennium Park, and Chicago authorities are tightening curfews for young people in the city. The shooting occurred just a few blocks from the site of a fight between teenagers. At the time of the shooting, police were not releasing the names of the victims. Although police have leads in some of the shootings, no arrests have been made yet.
