George Filenko

The story of George Filenko childhood and early years has a complicated background. His father, Aleks, and mother, Sophia, were born in Poland and Ukraine, respectively. During the World War II, the Nazis forced their families to work in labor camps. Sophia later contracted black lung disease while working in coal mines in Belgium. Aleks was also sent to firebombed German cities where his job was to retrieve corpses. His parents, however, did not share the details of their experiences. But they eventually met at a displaced persons camp.

George Filenko learned a variety of languages, including English, Russian, Polish, Ukrainian, Serbian, German, and Spanish. He also speaks a little bit of Italian and Slovak. However, it is not his primary language. As a result, it is hard to gauge his ability to communicate with others.

Filenko’s career with the Lake County Crime Task Force has spanned over 11 years. During this time, he has worked long hours and missed many family and special events. He has spent thousands of hours unpaid for the county. Now, he can focus on spending time with his family. During his time as a police officer, Filenko was involved in over 200 homicide investigations. He also worked on the case of 16-month-old Benjamin Kingan.

George Filenko career has been marked by controversy. He has faced death threats and been the public face of an investigation into the death of Fox Lake police lieutenant Joe Gliniewicz. His work as an officer has drew criticism from national media and the public. In addition, Filenko was involved in numerous other homicide investigations and was the head of a task force for six years.

Filenko has been commander of the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force for six years. Previously, he served as an investigator and assistant task force commander. He will continue to serve in an advisory role after his retirement. He also plans to keep his job as Round Lake Park police chief. However, his decision to retire has left the Task Force with questions.

Filenko is also known for investigating the murder of Rhoni Reuter, the girlfriend of former Chicago Bear Shaun Gayle. During this investigation, he found evidence of homicide but did not rule out suicide. The autopsy was performed by pathologist Manny Montez without Dr. Thomas Rudd’s knowledge, who was supposed to have performed the autopsy.

George Filenko case sparked a national debate about police tactics and excessive force. While his death was tragic, the community in Fox Lake, Illinois, rallied around him. Store owners posted signs with his picture in the window and flags flew at half-staff. During the day, more than 400 police officers searched the area on foot and on all-terrain vehicles.

The investigation was assisted by the FBI, the U.S. Marshals, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, as well as police officers from neighboring towns. A secondary review of the crime scene involved turning over every blade of grass and leaf. Despite all the evidence, no witnesses have been identified.
