Jordan is home to a new Jordan think tankthat’s looking to change the way the country does business. This company is called the Jordan Strategy Forum. Founded by former President King Hussein, this organization is seeking to promote regional and global economic growth. It is the first think tank of its kind in the Middle East, and is looking to develop a more inclusive approach to business.

King Hussein’s Academic Chair

The Center also hopes to conduct research on the late king’s era of rule and to document oral histories of his time in power.
Amr Moussa, Jordan’s crown prince, is taking on a more prominent role in the country’s diplomacy. The young prince has a background in international politics, having attended Georgetown University.
The event was part of the country’s 71st Independence Day celebrations. Veteran politicians, statesmen, and experts were in attendance. The event also honored James and Merryl Tisch, two prominent members of the Washington, D.C., business and education community.
The Jordanian government has a long history of promoting peace in the Middle East. In the aftermath of the 1967 Arab-Israeli War, King Hussein drafted United Nations Resolution 242, which required Israel to withdraw from all occupied Arab lands. This resolution set the bar for subsequent peace negotiations. Afterwards, he was instrumental in convening the Madrid Peace Conference and provided an umbrella for the Palestinian delegation.

German-Jordanian University and Siemens Healthineers have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in support of innovative thinking at GJU. Both organizations are committed to supporting Jordan’s future health care systems through joint research and grants. The MOU was signed by Mr. Sohib Yassin, president of GJU.
The West Asia-North Africa (WANA) Institute, a nonprofit Jordan think tank based in Amman, Jordan, aims to protect human rights and promote a green economy. Its sister institution, the East & West Center for Sustainable Development (WE Center), focuses on youth, women and people with disabilities, as well as workers’ rights.
The Vision Institute for Civil Society Studies is another Jordan think tank that works on democratic reform and empowers civil society leaders in the country. It conducts research, trains civil society activists, and provides consultancies on civil society issues. It is also a knowledge hub for civil society in the country. The institute works on promoting public-private partnerships, decentralization, and local governance, as well as strengthening civic leadership and institutions.
