WLRN Senior News Editor Jessica Bakeman Accuses New York

In an article published on WLRN, senior news editor Jessica Baker accuses Andrew Cuomo of sexual harassment. This is the first time a woman has made such a claim in her career, and many are shocked by the implication. Baker is a multiple award-winning journalist and has been covering politics for nearly 20 years. Let’s take a closer look. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

Jessica Bakeman is a Senior Editor for News at WLRN

As a senior editor for news at WLARN Public Radio & Television, Jessica Bakeman covers education in Florida, particularly K-12. She has won the National Association of Black Journalists’ Salute to Excellence Award for her coverage of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting. Prior to working at WLRN, Bakeman covered state government and politics for POLITICO in New York City and Tallahassee. She earned her bachelor’s degree from SUNY Plattsburgh.

Originally from Minnesota, Jessica Bakeman moved to Florida in 2005 to cover education policymaking in three state capitals. She was recently named “Journalist of the Year” by the Florida chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists for her work with the organization. She is also the organizer and director of a 2021 contest, “The COVID-19 Classroom: An Academic Disaster for Florida’s Vulnerable College Students.”

She Worked as a Political Reporter in the Empire State

While working as a political reporter at The Empire State, jessica bakeman became fascinated with politics. She was initially interested in the way politicians vote, but soon became fascinated with the political process itself. Jessica later became a political reporter and began working in the state’s capitol. While reporting for the paper, she also pursued other interests. She enjoyed reading historical fiction and true crime, and she loves to learn new languages.

She accuses Andrew Cuomo of Sexual Harassment

The New York Governor has been accused of a range of sexual misconduct by a former press aide and a female attendee of his state dinners. Jessica Baker, a Democrat from Brooklyn, claims that Cuomo groped her over her bra in a dimly lit hotel room two decades ago. She later told a co-worker about the alleged encounter and the supervisor took action. The women did not name the women who made the allegations, but it is likely that the woman who first filed the complaint has come forward.

The New York State Attorney General’s Office has been investigating the allegations against Cuomo. Despite the fact that there are not yet any criminal charges against Cuomo, Baker argues that the governor should resign immediately. A Democratic state legislator is seriously considering running against Cuomo. But how do we know Cuomo is telling the truth? Here’s a look at the evidence:

The New York Attorney General’s Office is investigating the claims and will release its report sometime in October. The report could revive calls for Andrew Cuomo’s impeachment, although it’s unlikely to prevent him from running again. The governor’s resigning did not happen overnight, but it’s clear that the #MeToo movement is changing the conversation and revealing the truth. While Cuomo’s initial statements were not entirely credible, more people are reading the women’s accounts and evaluating his defenses.

The scandal has shook the Democratic Party. Cuomo has been under fire for years for his sexual misconduct and indiscretions, but Democrats have been trying to hold their ground. Even President Obama has called for him to step down. Even his closest allies are reportedly negotiating with him over a resignation. But if he doesn’t resign, the Democrats have no other option than to replace him.

In the meantime, Cuomo’s inability to apologize for the incidents highlights the need for procedural norms to protect the rights of victims. The governor should resign and Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul should take over until the investigations are complete. This would ensure a fair and transparent investigation. In the meantime, Jessica Baker’s claim is a wake-up call for the sexual harassment conversation in our society.
